What is the Eufoton laser?
The Eufoton system utilises an 800-nanometre diode laser, administered through a high-precision optical fibre. This intradermal technology acts directly within the dermis, providing an effective solution for complex indications that have proven resistant to alternative treatments.
Our clinic uses this laser specifically for removing permanent and semi-permanent filler granulomas. The optical fibre facilitates precise laser delivery into the anatomical cavity containing the filler deposit. The heat generated liquefies this material, which can then be extracted using controlled pressure.
While Eufoton provides subtle skin retraction, Clinica Planas offers more advanced, dedicated platforms for optimal skin tightening, such as:
- HIFU
- Morpheus 8
- Fractional radiofrequency

Eufoton treatments
Removing granulomas
We primarily utilise Eufoton laser technology at Clínica Planas to remove granulomas on the face and body. Granulomas represent inflammatory responses to fillers that have failed to integrate or have migrated from the initial injection site.
It is important to note that this treatment is not suitable for the lips, as filler material in this region typically diffuses within the mucosa rather than encapsulating, preventing localised laser action.
The treatment is ineffective in cases where the filler has induced dense fibrosis or impenetrable encapsulation. Prior to treatment, patients must undergo an ultrasound scan by a granuloma specialist to evaluate material accessibility and ensure a safe, effective procedure.
The most frequently treated areas include:
- Forehead
- Cheekbones (very common in cases where facial expressions or smiling cause distortion)
- Areas where the filler has shifted and distorted the natural contours
Granuloma removal is often both a cosmetic and a medical necessity, particularly for patients with immune system disorders experiencing severe adverse reactions.
Inside a Eufoton Laser session
Clinical duration fluctuates between 15 and 120 minutes, determined by the volume of the deposit and the extent of material liquefaction. While some materials react immediately to the laser, others necessitate a series of treatments scheduled throughout the year.
- To ensure a comfortable experience, we utilise subcutaneous local anaesthesia during the treatment.
- Multiple sessions may be required for complex or high-volume filler removal.
The good news is that second sessions are often even more effective because your skin has already begun to respond to the treatment.
Benefits of Eufoton
Eufoton laser treatment delivers powerful aesthetic and functional benefits. One of the most notable benefits is the significant improvement in patient quality of life, as Eufoton treatment enables the correction of irregularities, deformities or lumps caused by fillers that have been incorrectly placed or poorly integrated into the tissue. These alterations may manifest as physical discomfort, aesthetic concerns, and, in certain presentations, acute pain.
Eufoton technology also enables the precise removal of permanent foreign substances that can lead to long-term inflammatory or immune-related complications. By removing these materials, the risk of long-term medical complications is reduced.
From an emotional and psychological perspective, it also represents a significant improvement. The procedure minimises aesthetic side effects, effectively restoring a more natural and harmonious appearance to the face or body. This makes a real difference to patient self-esteem and confidence, especially for anyone who has been struggling with the results of a previous treatment that didn't go as planned.
Before and after Eufoton Laser
F.A.Q.
-
How many sessions are needed to see results?
A single session is sufficient for 80% of cases, while the remaining 20% require a secondary treatment, typically scheduled 6 to 8 months later.
-
What sets Eufoton apart from other lasers?
The Eufoton laser is the only device that works via optical fibre, allowing it to penetrate directly into the tissue and act from within, making it highly effective at liquefying and extracting encapsulated fillers.
-
Can I combine Eufoton treatments with other aesthetic procedures?
Combining Eufoton with other procedures in the same anatomical area is contraindicated for at least 3 to 4 months due to the intensive nature of the recovery period. Aesthetic treatments may be performed concurrently on separate, untreated anatomical regions without clinical contraindication.
-
Can it be used on intimate areas as part of gynaecological aesthetic treatments?
Yes. The Eufoton laser is indicated for gynaecological aesthetic procedures, specifically for the removal of silicone or other fillers within the vulvar region. Treatments are always performed under strict medical supervision.
