HD liposculpture
What is HD Liposculpture?
High Definition Liposculpture, or HD, is an advanced liposuction technique that we perform at Clínica Planas with the aim of sculpting the body to achieve a more defined and athletic appearance. HD Liposculpture is not intended for weight loss, but rather to remove unwanted fat deposits. The results of this procedure are more natural and satisfactory when the skin has not yet suffered from elasticity problems, as it will be easier to regain the silhouette after the procedure. High-definition technology offers us greater precision to:
- Selectively remove fat around the muscles
- Create a slimmer and more toned appearance
- Highlight the contours of different parts of the body
- Tighten the skin in the treated areas
What is HD 360º Liposculpture?
360º Liposculpture is a liposculpture technique that aims to remove unwanted fat around the entire torso and, depending on each case, other areas that require it, including:
- abdomen
- flanks
- back
- buttocks
- double chin
- arms
- legs
Unlike traditional liposuction, which focuses on specific areas of the body, HD 360º Liposculpture is performed comprehensively, providing an overall improvement in the shape and contour of the body. This allows for a complete transformation and a slimmer, more athletic appearance.

Discover the technology behind HD liposculpture
Compared to classic liposuction, 360º HD Liposculpture uses highly advanced liposuction techniques and technology, some of which (or their combination for better results) did not exist 5 years ago. Currently, the following 3 technologies are used, as in the Planas clinic, by the world's leading body contouring teams.
- VASER
- MicroAire (PAL)
- Renuvion
These technologies allow for greater control and precision in fat removal. This translates into uniform and natural results, with less probability of generating irregularities or asymmetries.

Muscle definition
For us, each patient is unique, as are their bodies; that is why we perform the marking taking into account the particularities of each patient:
- gender
- age
- habits
- lifestyle
We can do this with different intensities:
- Soft HD liposculpture
- Moderate HD liposculpture
- Extreme HD liposculpture, only in very select cases; in male patients, through extreme marking of various muscles throughout the body
Lipofilling
Lipotransfer, lipofilling, or fat grafting is a technique that involves removing fat from one part of the body and transferring it to another. It can be performed during the same procedure and is almost always done in combination with HD liposculpture to add volume to the desired areas. As it is the patient's own tissue, it does not cause rejection reactions. Lipotransfer is usually applied to these parts of the body:
1. Lipotransfer to the buttocks: also called BBL (Brazilian Butt Lift). This is a specialised technique for transferring fat to the buttocks and hips to increase volume in these areas without the need for an implant. This technique gives the buttocks a firmer and lifted appearance, creating a more sculpted and better-proportioned silhouette. At Clínica Planas, we perform the ‘Safe BBL’ technique, which consists of injecting fat that has been previously treated using ultrasound.
2. Breast lipofilling: the fat obtained from liposculpture is processed and purified to obtain tissue rich in adipocytes (fat cells), which, once injected, will add volume to the breasts and improve skin quality.
3. Lipotransfer to the face: The extracted fat is processed using special nano or microfat techniques and applied to different parts of the face such as the lips, under-eye circles, cheekbones, or the regenerative power of stem cells derived from fatty tissue is used to treat scars, for facial rejuvenation or to improve skin quality.
4. Bikini Bridge: This refers to an optional supplementary technique to HD liposculpture in women who wish to have more prominent hip bones, giving the appearance of a ‘bridge’ between them and the lower abdomen.
Body volumisation
This is the most modern HD liposculpture technique, in which localised fat is extracted from the desired area and, after a process, that fat is transferred using intraoperative ultrasound guidance to different muscle groups in order to obtain greater volume and definition, thereby improving the body contour.
The rectus abdominis muscles are the ones that are most frequently volumised, a technique known as UGRAFT. However, using these principles, other muscle groups can be injected in both men and women to achieve more natural results, as the muscle definition and the shadows and transitions of the definition are performed from a deeper plane.

Who can undergo HD Liposculpture?
This procedure is recommended for people who are at a healthy weight but have specific problem areas that do not respond to diet and exercise changes, i.e., they accumulate fat that is difficult to eliminate in the abdomen, thighs, buttocks, hips, upper arms, back, etc., preventing them from achieving their aesthetic goal.

What is the recovery and post-operative period like for HD Liposculpture?
After HD Liposculpture surgery, you will be given detailed instructions on how to care for yourself and recover properly. It is important to follow these instructions carefully to ensure a successful recovery and minimise the risk of complications. During the first few days after surgery, you are likely to experience swelling, bruising and discomfort in the treated area. It is important to wear compression garments to help reduce swelling and promote faster recovery. It is also essential to schedule and attend all follow-up visits with your plastic surgeon.
These visits are an opportunity for the surgeon to evaluate your recovery progress, answer any questions you may have, and make adjustments if necessary. -
Scars HD Liposculpture
Fortunately, the incisions made during liposculpture are small and strategically placed in areas that are not very visible. Over time, these scars tend to fade and become less noticeable. In addition, there are techniques, creams, and topical treatments recommended by your surgeon that can help improve the appearance of scars.

Risks and complications of HD LIPO
Like any surgical procedure, HD Liposculpture carries certain risks and possible complications, including infection, thrombosis, heavier than usual bleeding, fluid accumulation in the treated area, and adverse reactions related to anaesthesia. However, these risks are relatively rare and can be minimised by following your surgeon's care and recovery instructions.

During your initial consultation, your plastic surgeon will provide you with detailed information about the specific procedures that will be performed and how they will be tailored to your goals and expectations.

When will I see the results of LIPO HD?
Although there may be a noticeable reduction in fat immediately after cosmetic surgery, the final results take a little longer to appear. Manual lymphatic drainage massages are an essential part of the HD Liposuction recovery process, helping to reduce inflammation sooner and see the final results earlier.
First 7 days: partial immediate results: During the first week, it is normal to experience swelling and bruising in the treated area. These symptoms can mask the true results of the procedure.
Results 1-3 months later: After the first week and during the following weeks, the swelling will begin to subside, allowing you to see a more defined silhouette. At the end of this period, approximately 50% of the swelling will have disappeared.
6 months later: At this point, approximately 90% of the swelling has resolved, and you will be able to see the final results of your liposuction almost completely.
After 1 year: Most patients see the final results around one year after the procedure. -
How can you maintain the results of LIPO HD in the long term?
Hydration is essential after any cosmetic surgery. Drink enough water and avoid excessive salt intake to minimise fluid retention. It is also advisable to take short walks during the first few weeks to promote good circulation. Although liposuction alone will remove a significant amount of fat and have a very good final result on your body aesthetics, to continue maintaining and improving your new figure, it is important to take steps to maintain a healthy lifestyle and weight.
Finding your ideal diet and exercise balance beforehand will help you maintain that lifestyle in the long term, allowing you to enjoy your new body for years to come.
You will find it easier to maintain these types of activities and behaviours if they are already part of your pre-surgery routine.
