The Jaime Planas Foundation provides funding for the training, technical development, and professional advancement of four medical residents for a period ranging from three months to one year. These scholarships cover both training and accommodation expenses.
During their stay, selected physicians have the opportunity to expand their knowledge and gain practical experience in the field of Plastic and Reconstructive Surgery.
Physicians of all nationalities are eligible to apply, and applications may be submitted throughout the year.
Scholarship Terms and Conditions
1. Candidate Requirements
Applicants must be residents currently undertaking their training in Plastic and Reconstructive Surgery or physicians who obtained their specialist qualification in Plastic and Reconstructive Surgery within the past three years.
2. The scholarship includes:
a) Full coverage of training costs throughout the stay.
b) Accommodation in a private area for residents who require it. The accommodation includes television, telephone, air conditioning, heating, Internet access, and laundry service.
c) All meals.
d) Participation in all courses and conferences organized by Clínica Planas during the scholarship period.
e) A certificate of attendance and diploma upon completion of the stay.
3. Spanish Language Requirements
Applicants must be fluent in both spoken and written Spanish.
4. Required Documentation
Applicants must send the following documentation by email to Marian Martínez, Secretary of the Jaime Planas Foundation, at fundacion@clinicaplanas.com
a) A copy of their Medical Degree.
b) A cover letter.
c) A letter explaining the applicant's motivation for undertaking further training in Plastic and Reconstructive Surgery, with a maximum length of 1,500 words.
d) Curriculum Vitae.
e) A certificate issued by the training department of the applicant's hospital confirming that they are currently undertaking specialist training in Plastic and Reconstructive Surgery, or a copy of their qualification as a specialist in Plastic and Reconstructive Surgery.
5. Training at Clínica Planas
Successful applicants will undertake their training at Clínica Planas, actively participating in the Clinic's clinical, teaching, and research activities.
Residents' activities include:
a) Operating room participation. More than 90% of the procedures will involve plastic surgery.
b) Participation in the on-call rota.
c) Unlimited access to the library, considered one of the world's most comprehensive libraries in the field of Plastic Surgery.
d) The opportunity to undertake research projects with the possibility of publication.
e) Participation in the Clinic's academic activities, including courses, surgical case discussions, and conferences.
6. Duration of the Stay
The training period will last between three months and one year, during which participants will undertake a clinical training placement.
Scholarships may be extended if the Board of Trustees considers that the resident has achieved the established objectives and that an extension of the training period would be beneficial.
Training and Scientific Activity at Clínica Planas
In addition to organizing this scholarship program, Clínica Planas offers a wide range of courses, seminars, and conferences.
Clínica Planas has published more than 500 scientific articles and papers in national and international specialist journals.
It has also welcomed more than 500 medical residents from numerous countries, including Argentina, Bolivia, Brazil, Chile, Colombia, Ecuador, Germany, Guatemala, Israel, Italy, Mexico, Paraguay, Peru, El Salvador, Spain, the United States, Uruguay, and Venezuela.
In addition, the American Plastic Surgery Educational Foundation in the United States recommends the center for specialist training.
