The Discomfort of Back Fat Around the Bra Strap

Contrary to what many people think, breast augmentation is not only about increasing the volume of the breasts; the goal is to achieve a more beautiful and harmonious silhouette. However, in many cases, even after a good result, small pockets of excess fat in certain areas can limit the overall effect of this surgery on the body shape.

In this post, we explain why breast augmentation combined with mini liposuction can be the perfect combination. Keep reading!

Combining breast augmentation with liposuction

Many of the patients who come to our clinic mention a common concern: localized fat deposits in certain areas of the upper torso, such as:

  1. The pre-axillary area
  2. The back
  3. Around the bra straps or clasp
  4. The arms

Even after breast surgery with implants, which achieves a more harmonious bust, many patients still don’t see the silhouette they desire because of these small, unsightly fat rolls that are so difficult to eliminate. They are often visible even through clothing—for example, when wearing a tank top in the summer.

In these cases, we recommend a small liposuction procedure, performed through a minimal incision of about 2 millimeters, to remove these localized fat deposits. This not only improves the overall silhouette but also enhances the final result of the breast augmentation.

When there is pre-axillary fat, the effect—both with and without a bra—is that the breast can appear somewhat square. In fact, this shape often gives patients the false impression that they have gained weight, when in reality it is an issue of contour rather than fat gain. By removing this upper fat, the breast appears rounder, creating a different, softer silhouette and highlighting the natural roundness of the upper pole.

Arm Liposuction

This improvement of the silhouette through liposuction can also be applied to the arms. It helps balance the entire upper body, as many patients feel self-conscious about the typical “arm flap” caused by excess fat. This often creates the visual effect of arms that appear too large in proportion to the torso.

For this reason, liposuction helps create a more proportional look for the upper body by removing fat through a small incision at the elbow or under the armpit. The only visible mark will be a 3-millimeter scar, which is virtually imperceptible.

Other Uses of Fat

Enhancing the cleavage
One very interesting possibility offered by combining breast augmentation with liposuction is using the extracted fat to improve the appearance of the cleavage. This involves injecting the fat into the inner sides of the breasts, giving them a rounder look and creating the effect of the breasts being closer together.

Beyond enhancing the results of breast augmentation with implants, fat can also be used as an alternative on its own. For women who wish to increase breast volume while avoiding implants, breast augmentation using the patient’s own fat is an option.
The procedure involves removing fat from areas with excess fat—such as those mentioned above, as well as the abdomen or thighs—and transferring it to the breasts to achieve the desired shape and volume. The result is very natural, both visually and to the touch, although there is a limitation of increasing up to a maximum of two cup sizes.

Breast lift

Finally, fat removal can also be combined with a breast lift, which can be performed with or without breast implants. Similar to breast augmentation with implants, fat can be used to add volume and enhance the cleavage after lifting the breasts.
