Excess Male Breast

The secret of an attractive pectoral

Excess Male Breast

Gynecomastia is an enlargement of the male breast. This alteration leads to problems in men who, on occasions, can be prevented from leading a completely normal life.

The excessive growth of breasts may be due to glands, fat or both. A breast scan is used to determine the cause so that the right technique may be chosen for each specific case.

Procedure

The operation is normally carried out under general anesthesia although, in those cases where the alteration is not significant, it may be done under local anesthesia and sedation.

The procedure consists of removing the mammary content via small incisions, generally located in the armpit. If the content is fat, liposuction alone is sufficient. If it is more glandular, then the gland must be removed.

Dr. Carlos del Cacho explains the results

This breast defect is more frequent in male. In most of the cases, the main reason for the consultation is the emotional impact that this alteration involves due to shape and size, and the resulting behavior of hiding it in daily life. Its objective is to get a normal appearance of the male chest, with the smallest possible scar. In this sense, liposuction has emerged as one of the most important techniques to apply in this pathology.

Dr. Artur Carbonell explains the results

Gynecomastia is corrected by removing the excess fat through liposuction, and in case of an excess mammary tissue, it is removed with a small incision, providing a well contoured chest.
